At first I thought it defied the laws of physics, but then I realized what they did, and was very smart. They took keys that aren’t used as much, such as the F keys, slightly smaller, and the regular keys are full sized, and very comfortable.

I have now downloaded IE 9 beta and it runs fine as well (IE 9 loads up as quickly as chrome does). I have 3 small gadgets running on the desktop and that does not seem to slow it down despite the low 2.4 windows experience rating.

The keyboard is slightly smaller than my Dell, but I have small hands, so that isn’t an issue for me. I had absolutely no problem setting up the computer, and the display is very sharp. I expected to get years of use of it, and 18 months is far shorter life span than my anticipation. I just purchased one about a week ago and must say I am impressed.

I upgraded to the Windows 7 Premium for the $20.00 fee and am glad I did as the starter version does not allow personalization of things like power management, and has no real good media center. Battery life seems pretty good so far. It’s also great to just use email to transfer documents even when using a mac for certain things. This works great as a secondary computer; in fact, I was slightly surprised at how well my netbook works.

As of May 2011, DDR3 prices have fallen below the price of DDR2. Therefore, Toshiba and other vendors made an update to their motherboards or BIOS to outfit it with the DDR3 for the obvious savings.

The specs and features are pretty much in-line with any other ~$300 Netbook. The colors are nicer than the competition.

We are now looking at HP & MacBooks to replace our $400, short-term purchase. I gave this 4 Stars, but I’ll tell you what I don’t like first.

The amount of “bloatware” from Toshiba is crazy! There are a bunch of apps that you really don’t need on a netbook like this. Kudos to Amazon as well for the very fast shipping and for the secure packaging. This is my first netbook and I have been impressed so far.

I wanted the Asus Netbook but chose the Toshiba as it had almost the same set up and was about $50.00 less. So far it has worked very well with no issues, boots up fast and is ready for surfing or whatever.

There is some, but almost all for arguably useful programs. The included Toshiba software seems well-designed even though I personally have no use for it.

You pick it up, and the rubberized matte finish feels good under your fingers — like there’s no way you’re going to drop it unless you’re a complete klutz. Also annoying is that the Windows 7 version it comes with idiotically does not let you choose a background. Got this mini-notebook just before going on a trip to Alaska and upgraded the RAM to 2GB right away. It’s a great little netbook at an affordable price. Specs are pretty standard for a 2010/2011 netbook: 1G RAM, 250Gb HD, 3 USB ports, basic video camera, separate Mic & headphone jacks, SD card slot, VGA output and a very useful 8h battery life. I immediately went and uninstalled many of the Toshiba apps and removed some entries from running at startup, which sped up boot-up time by about 4 seconds. I was watching Resident Evil: Afterlife with 1GB, and it stuttered constantly. In my personal opinion, Windows 7 Starter is not as bad as some people say. Sure you can’t create a dual-monitor configuration, but there are ways around some other issues.

This is just what I was looking for: a compact portable netbook that performs in most respects like a larger, more expensive laptop. My only complaint thus far is the highly reflective screen which makes it difficult to use under some bright light conditions; perhaps I can find some sort of film that will alleviate this problem. We have these like teeny 7 inch ones at school and they are absolutely terrible, kind of brain washing me. However, when I just went to visit my aunt, who has a netbook, I used it and I realized how nice it is. I really like Toshiba laptops, so the netbook version was an easy choice. Just wish the battery was less heavy and the keyboard less plastic-sounding. I sent it back to Amazon. I’ll just give my dad an iPad with a keyboard. I recommend that you wait before upgrading memory because mine is a DDR3 (the specs say DDR2, although the description says DDR3). I would have been unpleasantly surprised had I ordered the 2G memory upgrade at the same time I purchased this.

Used mostly for surfing web, video streaming and email, but audio quality is pretty good too. Tufted Ottoman.

While I’ll never be a Windows convert, this is a great little machine that lets me get my work done. I removed some of the Toshiba-ware, loaded Open Office and a free anti-virus program, and I am there. All the keys are the same size as a standard computer the only difference being this computer has no number pad on the side, just the numbers across the top, which works wonderfully. Battery life seems pretty good so far. I am never bothered by the size because the quality is superb. This wasn’t really a “selling point” for me as I’m not someone who needs the screen to be true to color but it is a nice perk. I didn’t add anything and am working on Windows Starter. The only difference with Word and Word Starter is you have to deal with a sidebar that has ads and stuff on it. A little slow but that’s what I expected. There is nothing that impedes my usage.

What is there not to like about it? The battery life is outstanding, seems to me near 8 hours at this time. I mean, come on, you can’t change the desktop image/wallpaper without up grading? I wiped the hard drive to install win 7 ultimate. I also notice it does not give off as much heat as my Dell. I think this is a great choice if you are buying something for portability and simple functions.

Volume and monitor functions are better handled with software applets. Suspend and hibernation work, but very slowly. When I was done, I found the netbook at 100% charge, which means that the netbook was shipped with a charged battery. That was another pleasant surprise, as some manufacturers ship their netbooks with barely charged batteries.

Boot-up time is also reduced with 2GB.

Something I could use for internet and email (while traveling), something I could watch Netflix on when I was in a room without a TV. So far I can do all of the above even though I’m working on the 1G memory card (the 2G is ordered).

I am a glutton for punishment, as I ordered a second one. landscaping trailers.
