This is an overview of the Amazon Kindle DX ebook reading device.

The Kindle was introduced relatively quietly, so you may not have been aware of its initial release. The Kindle seemed to release under the radar, especially when compared to other tech products, such as the iPhone or the newer editions of Windows.

If you love to read, the product probably caught your interest. This heightened interest exploded into widespread use with the launch of the fine-tuned Kindle 2. Amazon’s entry into the ebook market, called Kindle, remains the most successful ebook to date, both because of its ease of use and the intense way Amazon has marketed it.

Yet, is this widespread interest warranted, or is it merely the buzz that accompanies the latest new technology? In fact, both apply to some extent. Although the Kindle is has not been perfected, this is an easy, light and fast way to carry lots of your favorite books wherever you want them to go! You can’t beat the portability of the Kindle. The Kindle DX is fairly large, about the size of a regular sheet of paper but much thicker; it can hold more than 3000 books’ worth of data. It would take an extremely large bag to make that library portable.

With the many other ebook readers in the marketplace, the Kindle 2 has been facing stiff competition. Luckily for Kindle 2 producers, the Kindle DX blows away the competition. Amazon has made a reader which is an enhancement over the competition in each and every method. Whether it is greater memory capacity, a more readable screen or the whirling views ala the iPhone, the Kindle DX is unequalled in its features.
But it stays unmatched in it’s cost also.

Expense is likely to be the main factor explaining why a lot of folks don’t own a DX and might never have one. The price is pretty steep at $500, therefore you want the reader to have some extra features. Copy protection severely limits the device’s usefulness, plus you’re limited to grayscale viewing and you get no promotional books or cover art. For the amount of money you’re spending, why can’t you get more for your money?

Even though the Bebook reader happens to be my favorite, Kindle seems to be poised to become the most favored ebook reader. Also make sure you check out the Elonex ebook reader.
