Cellular Docking Stations
Business and personal activities usually revolve around telephones, because the age we live in is defined by communication and connectivity. The possibility to use the mobile and the regular phone interchangeably is definitely a big achievement, and it is all possible with a nice piece of technology called docking station. Thus, the cellular handset can be connected to a standard telephone set by means of cellular docking stations. Depending on the complexity of the device, the connection is achieved either by regular cables or by Bluetooth technology. First sold as gadgets, cellular docking stations are now recognized as the adequate means of maximizing the operation of both cell phone and landlines.
Cellular docking stations allow one to use any phone in the house or office to receive a cell phone. Thus, with a regular cordless device or a normal handset the free minutes of the mobile plan can be used via the regular phone. Other people can simultaneously use extensions, not to mention that the cellular docking stations solve the problem of dead areas where there is little or no connectivity at all. The number of producing companies is not very large, even if the integrated use of home phones and cellulars grows in popularity every year. The reduced availability of the adapters is usually to blame for the rather limited offer of products.
The advanced design as well as the improvement of the applied technologies make strong points. Most cellular docking station are lightweight and small-sized, with buttons that read ‘land’ and ‘mobile’ or ‘home’ and ‘cell’. As soon as you pick up the handset, you can thus select the line on which to make the call. Different ringtones could also help you distinguish between incoming cell calls and land calls. Very often the setups of the cellular docking stations are similar even if the producers differ. Thus, you will get a base unit, a docking station and a cordless handset in the package. A phone jack and an electric outlet are necessary to connect the device.
Cellular docking stations can be used anywhere in the house or office, and they have the great convenience of charging the mobile too. If you know that there are home areas where the cell signal is weak, the best idea is to place the docking station in the spot with the clearest reception. As for prices, products are available from $130 to $250 depending on the manufacturer and the technologies used. Needless to say that additional handsets or special video cameras are gadgets that add up to the costs.
