Just What Are The New PSP Go Features

The most recent incarnation of Sony’s gaming portables isthe PSP Go, revealed in Q4 of 2009 at the E3gaming show. The PSP Go features are noticeably improved on previous models in the range, and unite to offer a fashionable and practical alternative to the existing series.

The first, and probably most talked about, of the PSP Go features to stray from classic models is the absence of the UMD drive. Prior versions have employed this media avenue for both games and videos, but the PSP Go does away with it completely. As an alternative, Sony intend for all software on the PSP Go to be downloaded onto the 16 GB of built-in memory. This bold move will be facilitated by the PS store, which is building amassive catalogue of titles and movies to be provided with the PSP Go features.

The formerly discussed 16 GB of memory is flash based, and can be extended to 32 GB by the memory stick micro. This PSP Go feature delivers a huge stock of memory so gamers won’t be stuck for space. The screen has been slightly reduced since the PSP 3000, but offers a much more focussed display at 480×272 pixels. The screen shelf is slipped upwards to reveal the buttons and directional pad, which also includes an analogue stick.

The PSP Go keeps all the fundamental features of its progenitor, including wi-fi accessibility and access to the PS store both on its own or via a PS3. Sony are endeavouring to make all prior UMDs accessible in the store, and game-players can also find ‘Minis’, a brand new set of cheaper titles from fan-favourite ranges such as Tetris and Megaman.

And so that’s a quick introto the PSP Go features. The console keeps the classic feel and specs of the original, while showcasing a dynamic new finish and innovative media capacities. Sony have announced that exclusively downloading games is the dream for all games in the future, and so the PSP Go is paving the way for a new venture into gaming history.
