The materials used for the rapid prototyping are different. Those can be fluids, powders, metals, liquids, rapid prototyping wax (that proved to be one of the most popular prototyping materials). The ’layer-by-layer’ technology is one of the greatest innovations of the high-technology epoch, because, taking into consideration the flexibility of the used material, any geometrical form can be created observing the tiniest details and parts.

To cut a long story short, rapid prototyping is not that rapid as it sounds. The process of model creation can take weeks, because the process itself is very accurate and painstaking. Apart from this, no project can manage with only one prototype. Two or even more prototyping models are usually created within the project, considering all changes and improvements made by designers. Still it does not diminish the great functionality of this technology.
